Anjou Coconut Oil Customer Reviews

“I used for years Carrington Farms extra virgin coconut oil (which is great and originates from the Philippines, you can find here on amazon too in a 50 oz jar) for cooking, to give to my dog, and for skin. I make from scratch lip balms and soap and use coconut oil in both.

For soap making however I use less expensive, refined coconut oil that I buy in gallon buckets so I have not tested this or Carrington Farms one in soap making. I wanted to try Anjou, despite being already happy with Carrington Farms, just as a comparison, for 3 reasons:

It is a bit more expensive and wanted to see if this translates in even higher quality It originates from Sri Lanka (only brand I could find from Sri Lanka) and wanted to see if there was a difference in smell / quality The description says it melts at 79 degrees which is peculiar. Any other brand of coconut oil I have seen melts at 76. There is another variation that melts at 92 but it is a very different type and I have not been able to find any Unrefined 92 melting coconut oil.

RESULTS FOR THE COMPARISON

I cannot detect any difference in terms of smell, taste or skin feel between Anjuou and Carrington Farms coconuts. This is definitively more compact and melts at higher temperature. The jar is smaller than Carrington Farms’s even if it is 2 oz more.

Now in Lipbalms, I have gotten much better results with this because of the more solid texture. I made a first attempt to Tinted Lipbalm with 1 tablespoon beeswax, 2 tablespoons of this coconut and a teaspoon of iron oxide and came out excellent (I attach two photos too, one while it was solidifying and one when done and used on my lips). I previously used the same ratio to make a non-tinted lipbalm with Carrington Farms coconut and it was slightly soft. So in lip balm making, the added solidity makes a good difference.

Now it is summer and my apartment is very warm (I choose not to use AC for environmental reasons and because I tolerate heat very well). It is easier now to apply Anjou coconut on my skin after the shower than Carrington Farms because when I grab a handful of it from the jar, it does not drip since it is solid.

Overall I think this coconut oil is great quality and so is Carrington Farms one. Since this is slightly more expensive I keep it for lip balms making and, sometimes, to apply on skin when the other is semi-melted and would make a mess dripping on the floor (when I am in a rush and do not want to clean the floor).”

“I have very dry sensitive skin and I am always having issues with it. A coworker told me I should try using coconut oil. Of course I was skeptical but decided to look into it. After doing some research I purchased another organic brand elsewhere. I chose this other brand because it was not supposed to have any taste or smell which I preferred so that I could use it to cook with as well and not have it add any odd taste to what I was making.

I also started using this other brand on my face and hands and my skin did start to improve. So I then did more research and learned that I should really get a organic cold pressed version which led me to your product. The Anjou coconut oil is wonderful. I am using it for skincare and I can’t believe how much my skin has improved. After all those dermatologist visits and all those prescriptions I had no idea there could be such a simple answer.

I am using the Anjou coconut oil for skincare and using the other brand I bought for cooking as the Anjou coconut oil does claim to be free of taste or smell. If you are one one who does not like strong scent this product would still be a great choice. It only has the faintest scent of natural coconut. Bottom line I am extremely happy with this product and definitely recommend it.”
